Recently, on Tuesday Israel unveiled their new invention of the new version of its “Iron Dome” defence shield revealed that it is now capable of intercepting drones, missiles and rockets simultaneously and bring them to ineffective.
It has been a work for nearly a decade to ensure tight security for Israel at large from rocket fire from the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.
However, Iron Dome has the credit of helping Israel to maintain military supremacy over its neighbouring countries.
The Defence Minister Benny Gantz, said:
“The Iron Dome was tested in a range of complex scenarios and successfully intercepted and destroyed targets simulating existing and emerging threats”.
He said in a statement, the threats included “the simultaneous interception of multiple UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) as well as a salvo of rockets and missiles”.
“The new version of the Iron Dome system will be delivered to the IAF (Israeli Air Force) and the navy for operational use and will strengthen Israel’s multi-tier missile defence capabilities”.
Formally in 2007, Iron Dome was selected to be Israel’s missile defence system.
Meanwhile, the same year, 2007 the Islamist group Hamas took charge of the Gaza Strip.
Originally, the Iron Dome was designed to intercept rockets and artillery shells fired from a distance of four to 70 kilometres (three to 45 miles).
Since 2011 the Israeli Air Force has operating it and so far thwarted hundreds of rocket attacks from Gaza and Syria on israel.
