Operatives of the Nigerian Police, on Wednesday engaged in a gunfire against a gang of hoodlums alleged to be terrorizing the peaceful atmosphere in Kogi state.
The hoodlums were reported to had appeared in military uniform, attempting to kidnap innocent citizens before their plans were foiled as the Police intercepted them in the Ajaokuta area.
It was gathered that the hoodlums blocked the road, stopping vehicles before the Anti-Crime Patrol Team of the Nigerian Police came to the scene, neutralising two of the bandits in a gunfire, while the others escaped into the bush with injuries.
Some of the Items recovered from the bandits include two wooden AK47, 25 assorted mobile phones, one First Bank ATM card bearing Mohammed Jamiu and cash.
The Kogi government applauded the gallantry and swift response of the police operatives to the situation.
The spokesman to the state governor, Muhammed Onogwu noted that the state has mustered necessary efforts to confront all forms of banditry and crime in the state.
He said: “Kogi has no abode for criminal elements, the state exists only for law abiding persons.
“Our gallant security forces are on ground to ensure lives and property are secured.”
