According to Bashir;
“The new (Kano–Maradi) railway corridor will run through Kano, Jigawa and Katsina and through Niger Republic territory as far as Maradi. Towns like Danbatta (Kano), Kazaure (Jigawa), and Daura, Mashi, Jibia (Katsina) will also be affected by the new rail line in Nigeria.”
In September 2020, reports revealed that the Federal Executive Council had approved a $1.96 billion disbursement for the railway line from Kano to Maradi in the Niger Republic.
The Warri-Itakpe standard gauge rail line will also be commissioned by the President, running through Kogi, Edo, and Delta States.
However, on Monday, the Federal Government announced that the contract documents for the start of the Kano-Maradi and Kano-Dutse railway project had been signed.
